5 ways to get outside and enjoy the sunshine this August
When a heatwave arrives, there’s nothing better to do than get outside! Whether that’s doing something active or simply relaxing in the sunshine, we’ve put together a list of ways you can enjoy the good weather and get outdoors this August.
Have a BBQ
A BBQ in the back garden is a great way to relax, unwind and enjoy great food with family and friends. If you’re looking for a new recipe to impress your guests, give Michael’s Texan Short Ribs a go. You can start cooking them in the kitchen, finish them on the barbecue, then kick back and enjoy!
Step away from technology and escape into the outdoors with a camping trip! Through unwinding in nature, you can take a break from the stresses of day-to-day life and recharge your batteries. There are plenty of great camping spots along the Cornish coast, or for first timers, the back garden is a good way to test the waters and see how you get on.
Enjoy a family bike ride
You can’t beat a pedal along Porthleven’s stunning harbourside on a sunny day. Bike riding is an easy way for both adults and kids to get the recommended hour of daily exercise, plus it’s a really good way to explore somewhere new and enjoy the outdoors.
Take a trip to The Harbourside Refuge!
We know we’re biased, but a menu by a Michelin Star chef, combined with stunning views of the Porthleven Harbour is a pretty unbeatable experience! Plus, did you know that our Porthleven restaurant is dog friendly? Why not get the whole family together, and join us for a bite to eat. We’ve got plenty of outdoor seating so that you can kick back, relax and soak up the sunshine. Take a look at our full menu here.
Go for a walk
After you’re full from lunch here at The Harbourside Refuge, embrace the outdoors and enjoy a walk along the harbour. If you’re feeling more adventurous, why not explore Porthleven’s stunning scenery on the Cornish coastal path. The path stretches 13.4 miles from Porthleven to The Lizard and promises spectacular views along the way, and you can walk as little or as far as you like!
