Supporting local charities

Here at The Harbourside Refuge we are very proud to support local charities and all the fantastic work that they do.

At the restaurant we charge a 50p discretionary donation, with all the proceeds going towards our selected charities.

the fishermen's mission

The Fishermen’s Mission has been a charity for nearly 140 years. They are in the ports and coves regularly reaching out to fishing families throughout the UK. More than 13,000 people work in fishing: the UK’s toughest and most dangerous peacetime occupation.

At sea, an average of 15 fishermen are killed or seriously injured every year.

On land, many struggle with insecurity and debt, and for the 50,000 retired fishermen and their families, the hardship continues as they face scant savings, loneliness and isolation. The charity provides emergency 24-hour response all year round.

The Fishermen’s Mission is a lifeline for many and plays a vital role in fighting poverty and despair in our fishing communities.
